It is mainly concerned with measuring ignition temperature and ignition delay of solid fuels. It is a procedure that quickly determines the fuel’s ability to ignite under specific conditions. ISO 3679 includes two rapid equilibrium procedures. That is Procedure A and Procedure B. Procedure determines whether to Flash-no-flash. Procedure B determines to flash point.
Process C – Non-Equilibrium
It refers to a state where the system is not in equilibrium, meaning the fuel and material that is tested is not in a steady state under the test conditions. It refers to the condition where the system has not reached a balanced state. ISO 3679 includes only one procedure in non-rapid equilibrium, which is Procedure C. This procedure is used for automated test cup temperature control for flash point determination. The non-equilibrium C procedure applies to petroleum products, including kerosene fuel, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel, as well as petroleum products in the temperature range from -20 °C to 300 °C.
