Procedure A and Procedure B: Procedure A and Procedure B apply to flash point tests and flash no-flash tests of paints. Both these procedures contain the information required for flash point tests and flash no-flash tests. The requirements for making the determination are given. The procedures cover varnish paints, binders for varnish and water-borne paints, adhesives, diesel and kerosene fuels, solvents, fatty acid methyl esters, petroleum products including aviation turbines, related products and diesel in the temperature range -30 °C to 300 °C. These procedures are rapid equilibrium procedures. Process A and Process B are used to reach a specific temperature and determine the flash point of the sample, respectively.

C Procedure: The non-equilibrium C procedure applies to petroleum products including kerosene fuel, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel as well as petroleum products in the temperature range from -20 °C to 300 °C. This procedure is a non-equilibrium method. It is automated for determining the flash point.
